A current lawsuit in Canada could have a dramatic affect on user communication on message boards.

The case could be seen as a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) to silence or uncover the identity of the users who have posted comments or to intimidate an ISP. However, the anti-SLAPP laws are not in place within British Columbia where the case is being brought.

In this case, the ISP has removed all alleged defamatory content and the identity of users may soon be disclosed.

Governments in Asia including China, Vietnam and Nepal have been named the worst 'enemies' of Internet Freedom. This has come from increased cenorship to websites and the imprisonment of those who are deemed dangerous online.

Experts claim that there is a fear that Western ideas of freedom and democracy will affect government power.
